Boycotting Ho Long Supermarket

For those of you who don't know...I've essentially grew up immersed in Japanese and later in life Vietnamese culture. I love all things asian. Korean pop, Japanese food and fashion, Vietnamese food (soo good). So it's no surprise that I understand enough Vietnamese to get me by should I be lost in the middle of Vietnam with no English speaking people anywhere.

For years I've been doing the bulk of my grocery shopping at Ho Long Supermarket to get everything from my meats, eggs, produce, tea...you know, groceries. And I've never had a problem there. I've always been polite, respectable, and even continued to go even though I've seen less than sanitary things because Im a business loyal person.

Today I took my dog for a walk to go buy some tea (I always take my dog there as she's never a problem..I just pick her up). I spent time choosing my tea because I wanted something different. I finally chose a ginger tea for $1.29. It's a buck, if I don't like it, no big deal. I get to the cash register, I get my money out and she quickly scans it, throws it in a bag and says "$3." I quickly respond (very politely may I add) "Just a second, I think that's marked -" "2.99 DO YOU WANT IT OR NOT?!"
Bitch full out YELLED at me, in front of everyone. I said "It's marked at a different price, if you would just -" to which she yells louder "$2.99 DO YOU WANT IT OR NOT!?" after I try to argue again she throws the box in a pile and says in Vietnamese "dumb ghost girl trying to change the price". I forget how to spell the word, but theres a Viet word thats essentially what they call white people in a racist term that translates to "ghost girl".
I asked the manager to come over, who was right behind her and she starts picking at the price tag trying to say that I changed it!
I just lost my shit and called her a racist fuck and walked out..I went up the road to a different CLEANER place and paid MORE for the same tea...happily.

So, anyone who comes across this blog post, remember... Ho Long Supermarket in Chinatown, (the most southern grocery store on Spadina) doesn't give a shit how long you've been shopping there or how many hundreds or thousands you've spent there...

Never again.
